KONY, Icecreamkony, StreetKony
Kony is the newest meme, he is all over the internet now. The Invisible Children organization is getting exactly what they want now. Kony is famous on the internet and websites like "Funny Junk" and Damnlol" made it popular. So these websites are helping people and they have done something to benefit the world. So thanks Damnlol and Funny Junk! They seem like they have spread the word about Kony more than anyone. News and painting a city seems like it has done far less than all the jokes on the websites that have been posted. Are these jokes that are made bad though? I don't think so because they are spreading awareness about Kony. What do you think?

It's very true that memes and pictures and such are popping up everywhere, and more people seem to know who Kony is because of them. However, the people who learn about Kony through such sites don't know what he's done and why he needs to be stopped. The sites seem to mock the issue rather than raise awareness.
ReplyDeleteSome of the memes like icecreamkony and streetkony just making fun of his name don't help that much, but other ones where they are making jokes about how he kidnaps children. So I think some of them spread more awareness than others.
